Millimeter-Wave Massive MIMO Channel Sounding, Estimation, and Beamforming for 5G

ABSTRACT

This project addresses the problem of characterizing the wideband millimeter-wave channel in bad weather, especially during rain, in a cost-effective way. Absolute timing can be derived based on FMCW and GPS-disciplined clock synchronization. Multiple types of waveforms (e.g., linear/nonlinear, single/continuous sawtooth and triangle ramp) can be used for characterizing specific characteristics of the millimeter-wave channel.
