Dr. Mohd Ridzuan Mokhtar is no stranger to those in the engineering field. He started his career as an academic with Multimedia University, Malaysia in the Faculty of Engineering in February 2005. He is currently a full-fledged professor at the faculty.
His education in engineering began in the mid 90’s where he successfully graduated with First Class Honours B.Eng. degree from the renowned King’s College London in 1998. In 2005, he was conferred with a PhD in optoelectronics from the University of Southampton, United Kingdom.
Receiving sponsorship from the Technology Strategy Board in the U.K., Prof. Mohd Ridzuan was given the opportunity to become a Research Fellow at the City University, London from 2009 to 2010. Upon his return to Malaysia, he was appointed as the Director of Collaboration and Innovation Centre at Multimedia University, Malaysia from 2011 until 2018.
He is currently the Director of Research Institute for Digital Connectivity at Multimedia University, Malaysia, who oversees interdisciplinary innovations for enhanced connectivity experience. As for his professional affiliations, he is a member of the Institution of Engineering and Technology (IET), U.K. and a Chartered Engineer registered with the Engineering Council (EC) U.K. His research passion includes fundamental and applied research of fiber optic sensors and optical communication systems.
He has authored or co-authored more than 70 scientific and technical papers, holds 2 pending patents, and led projects with over RM1.2 million worth of funding from the Malaysian government and industry.
